A phenomena first discovered nearly 500 years ago, a Rat King occurs in nature when three or more rats (or mice) become entangled with one another via their tails. It is unclear exactly what causes the knot, whether it be the erratic and spontaneous movement of the rats' long, fleshy tails or the presence of a sticky substance like tree sap or dirt.
Our Rat Kings are created in house by our wet specimen technicians, Joei and Onyx. This piece is OOAK and is mounted on a large circular frame. It measures approximately 13.5" across and is about 2.5" deep.
